Onan Compartment Temps 

Lots of speculation about what is happening in the Onan compartment temperature-wise. I decided to instrument the compartment with thermocouples and find out what really goes on.

Unit on left is measuring compartment temperatures  above the exhaust manifold. Unit on right is measuring air temperature going into and coming out of the engine blower.

One thermocouple was inserted between the compartment insulation and the aluminum vehicle skin.

Generator compartment temperature results. Left side of graph is with engine running and the compartment door closed. Generator was stopped around 17:50 at which point temps in the compartment rise dramatically due to loss of cooling air. Red trace = temp above exhaust manifold, Green trace = temperature between the insulation and the vehicle body, brown trace = temperature difference between the two.
